Well, we’re all little broadcasters now. Facebroadcasting, twitbroadcasting and otherwise web2.0broadcasting (that may be stretching the concept of what a word is). Anyway, ok, great. It’s probably better than CBS framing the snapshot of what it is to be alive in whatever century.
The problem, however, is that the broader public policy themes seem to get swallowed up in the static of endless and often inconsequential trivia.
Is this a legitimate concern? Can the I-just-bought-some-bread twitter posts somehow coexist with Yes We Can movements?
I’m guessing yes. We’ve only just seen the beginning of democracy. The intimacies between the individual and the cogs of journalism and governments are definitely getting closer and closer. This is a recent technological innovation, however people are smart enough to recognise the boundaries between recent facebook rants and the discourse of electing people and talking out important issues of the day.
